Beginner Chess Camp
Join the Magic Valley Chess Association for a 2-day chess camp in the new classroom at the Twin Falls City Pool—designed to help new players quickly learn the game and start playing with confidence.
This camp is for new and beginning chess players—students who have never played before or who know how the pieces move but have not had formal instruction.
Students will learn:
- How the pieces move
- Check, checkmate, and stalemate
- Basic checkmate patterns
- Piece values
- Basic opening principles
- Simple tactics and strategy
- Chess etiquette and sportsmanship
Each session includes instruction and practice games.
No experience needed.
Students may register for multiple sessions and are encouraged to check out our Intermediate Chess Camps as they continue to improve.
